Sherpa Launches to Help Ridesharing Drivers Track Their Stats

Sherpa has launched an analytics suite to allow Lyft and UberX drivers to “get insight into your driving income.” I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and it’s a pretty neat tool. I’m excited to watch it continue to grow and add more robust features.

Sherpa allows UberX and Lfyt drivers to track their income over time, across platforms, by ride, etc… It takes a little bit of work to get set up, but can pretty quickly be automated. If you drive for UberX and/or Lyft and are interested in measuring your earnings, trips, etc., I suggest checking it out.

Uber Launching UberXL

Innovation in the ridesharing space continues as Uber is adding another level of service, UberXL. As you might guess from the name, UberXL is UberX with larger seating capacity, aka the poor man’s UberSUV. UberXL rates will be approximately 45% more than UberX rates according to Uber and UberXL vehicles will have a seating capacity of 6 (vs. 3 for UberX).

For UberX drivers with large seating capacities (minivans and large, non-luxury SUVs), UberXL will operate similarly to how UberSUV does, making drivers eligible for both UberX and UberXL requests.

Launching UberXL is a good move on Uber’s part as many times passengers try to squeeze extra passengers into an UberX, creating both an illegal and an unsafe experience.

If you haven’t joined Uber yet, I highly suggest you do so! You can sign up, here, and get $10 in credit if you’re a new user.

Here’s a link to the e-mail I received from Uber regarding the launch of UberXL.

Lyft Launches in St. Louis and Salt Lake City

As of today, you can now use Lyft to get around town in St. Louis, MO and Salt Lake City, UT! Speaking from my own personal experience with cabs in St. Louis, this is a godsend! Now passengers will be able to get where they need to go in a comfortable vehicle with a friendly driver and for a reasonable fare!!

If you haven’t used Lyft yet, sign up here.

What is Lyft?

Lyft is your friend with a car. Drivers are matched with passengers who request rides through the Lyft iPhone or Android app. Drivers are screened with DMV and background checks, and Lyft’s platform has a first-of-its-kind $1M per occurrence excess liability insurance policy. Once a ride is complete, passengers are shown the total fare amount in the app and e-mailed a receipt.

How To Become An UberX Driver

I’ve been driving for UberX for over 6 months now and I’m loving it! I’ve found it to be an excellent source of extra income and I highly recommend it to anyone that’s interested.

If you’d like to become a driver for UberX, fill out this quick form and I’ll send you both an e-mail and text with instructions on how to apply. Link

The process is pretty straightforward and if you’re serious about getting started, you can be up and running within 48 hours.

Step 1: Apply (this link will take you to a spreadsheet where you can enter your contact information. From there, I will e-mail and/or text you with information on how to apply).

Step 2: Submit basic information, verification of insurance, pictures of car and other necessary information to Uber. Don’t worry, this step isn’t difficult and Uber will walk you through what you all need to submit.

Step 3: Pick up your phone! If you’re approved, Uber will provide you with an iPhone that you need to be a partner on the Uber system. This phone can only be used with the Uber Driver application and it is how you will receive & accept ride requests and how Uber will measure your rides to ensure accurate charges.

Step 4: Turn on the Uber Driver application and wait for your first request! If you live in a not so busy part of town, you might want to head somewhere busier to increase your chances of getting a ride request.

Feel free to contact me with questions, but in the meantime, make sure you get the process started by clicking here!
